What is life coaching?

Published on by Ray Knott

With the hustle and bustle of modern life, we sometimes lose sight of our goals, and what we want to achieve in life. Sometimes, we lack the confidence to grab an opportunity and then regret not having doing so. A life coach is a fairly modern term that has evolved out of a basic need for individuals to achieve success and fulfilment in their lives.

What is life coaching?

A life coach is someone who acts as a facilitator to enable a person to achieve either personal or professional goals in their life. This can be done by either one-to-one group sessions, or by using other media such as telephone, and email.

Their focus

The main focus for the life coach is on the person that they are coaching reaching a pre-determined level in their life so that they feel they have achieved what they set out to do. Sometimes, people lack direction in their lives or simply don’t have the confidence to achieve what they would like to do. A life coach will approach the problem from an outside perspective, to offer support and to facilitate the steps that you need to help you to keep moving forward. They will use their coaching skills and expertise to empower you to feel good about yourself, and your abilities, which in turn will empower a positive ‘can do’ approach.

When the going gets a little rough, the life coach will be there to make sure you get the support that you need to stay focused on your goals and to keep the momentum going.

Whether it may be a personal goal that you are seeking, or you may wish to reach a higher professional level in your career and need coaching in business, you can grab a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Whatever your personal or professional reasons or circumstances, you should be able to enlist the support of a life coach.

What are the benefits of life coaching?

When people are working towards a goal in their life, they are motivated, mentally stimulated, and will have a positive attitude on life. This also creates greatly enhanced holistic benefits for the physical, and emotional well-being of the person.

Another benefit of a life coach is confidence building, which is probably one of the main reasons people use life coaches. It’s easy with today’s busy lifestyles and so much competition to get left behind and feeling that life is passing you by.

A life coach can act as a mentor, to give you the motivation that you need to get a job, a place at college, a healthy lifestyle, and so on. Whatever your goal is, there’s a life coach out there who specialises in facilitating success and achievement.
